Jump Start to College is a tuition free program to provide Minneapolis Public School students the opportunity to take pre- college classes that will count towards high school graduation requirements and help them be eligible for PSEO and concurrent courses.
Jump Start to College courses are held on the college campus and are co-taught by a high school and college faculty member. Students receive grades for these courses on their high school transcript that articulate to the college to reduce the need for pre-college program for students when they graduate from high school and enroll in college. Jump Start to College course offerings including pre-college skill- building curriculum in Reading, English, Math and English as a Second Language. Students are also eligible to receive academic support in each course including access to a computer and tutoring from their high school teacher.
Jump Start to College classes are held in the summer, fall and spring semesters. During the summer the courses are held between 8:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.. During the fall and spring semesters the courses take place on campus between 2:30p.m. and 6:30p.m.
Students eligibility for this program is based off of their Accuplacer test results. All students must be current Minneapolis public or alternative school students. If you need information regarding your Accuplacer tests or to schedule a time to assess please contact Betty.Olsen@minneapolis.edu
