College Readiness Symposium

Inreasing the rates of recent high school graduates who are college ready is at the heart of what the K-12 Connections Department strives to achieve in Minneapolis and beyond.

On April 17th, 2009 we hosted a college readiness symposium on MCTC's campus for current Twin Cities metro area k-12 teachers and 2 and 4 year college faculty from throughout the Twin Cities area to problem solve and collaborate to increase the rates of college readiness in our community.  Disciplines represented included English Language Arts, Math and ESOL.  Topics ranged from college readiness standards by content area, to closing the achievement gap to the soft skills that students need to be successful in both college and career.

MCTC  worked with schools to arrange coverage for their instructors.   Please see the attached notes to reference the discussions from our spring meeting.

MCTC anticipates hosting another annual college readiness symposium in October.  Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
